Online Degrees Helps You Move Forward

August 15, 2009

Some people are born as good listeners who give great advice. People in this field are people who have strong interpersonal skills, and might even want to consider turning it into a career. If you fall into this category, perhaps you should take up an online counseling psychology degree for college.

Counseling psychology usually involves one-to-one communication with a customer, in which you listen to his issues and problems, while you give advice on how to deal with it. Issues can deal with emotional, educational, health-related, or social problems, so counseling psychologists must have wide background knowledge.

Although you can never really get the full college education, with the heated debates in class, online, the rewards you’ll get when you study online are numerous as well.

Since counseling psychologists don’t make millions in their first five years, you must avoid as many avoidable expenses as possible, hence the name. When you study online, you spend only for the necessities, such as tuition fee, and some other small miscellaneous fees, and avoid the rest.

Since you can work anywhere you want, you no longer need to pay for bus fares daily just to get to and from school. Even if you have your own car, gasoline doesn’t come cheap, and you’ll still need to pay for that.

Remember the avoidables we were talking about? There are a lot of those when you study in a regular university. Aside from bus fares, suddenly, accommodation fees, canteen lunches, and facility rentals come into the picture. Where did those come from? But when you study online, you’ll get the same degree, without adding extra fees.

When you study online, you can work any time you want. As long as you’ve got your computer ready, be it 2 in the morning or 8 in the evening, you can study. Don’t forget that you can also study at the speed you would like, whether it be studying for 8 hours straight, or studying slowly at a more relaxed pace.

Online education is truly a blessing to all who take advantage of it. The benefits listed above are merely the tip of the iceberg. You’ll still have to take the plunge to find out what exactly’s in store. It all starts, however, with your online counseling psychology degree.

Online Cheating a Big Problem?

One of the clouds appearing on the horizon for online universities is The College Opportunity and Affordability Act signed by President Bush late in 2008. This new law requires universities to authenticate test takers taking online courses through costly identification technology or with exam proctors.

The federal Education Department is expected to release guidelines for implementing this new law in the months ahead so the new law can be made effective later this year or early 2010. They say the “devil is in the details,” but on the surface this provision of the new law seems to provide uncertain benefits combined with certain increases in costs for online universities – and ultimately their students.
